March 2017 RJ Hilliard (Class of 1994) invites Brian Swiger (Class of 1993) to play for the Boonsboro Warriors full contact flag team in Hagerstown, MD. Brian becomes friends of players on the Boonsboro Alumni football team.
August 2017 Brian Swiger and RJ Hilliard form the Brunswick Assassins full contact flag team, creating a team of players from mostly the Brunswick area. After RJ’s brief exit from the Assassins, Mike Beachley (Class of 2003) assumes a leadership role and Brian and Mike grow the struggling Brunswick Assassins to a team of nearly 30 players mostly from Brunswick, MD.
5 August 2017 Brian attends Smithsburg at Boonsboro Alumni game #2 as a fan.
7 August 2017 Brian calls Alumni Football USA (Robert Bishop) to discuss an alumni game for Brunswick High School. The conversation goes very well and the Brunswick Railroaders Alumni Football Team is created later that evening. Brian and Mike plan the way forward for the Brunswick Railroaders Alumni football team.
February 2018 First ever Brunswick Alumni Football practice.
Summer 2018 Brunswick Alumni practice each weekend preparing for the inaugural game.
September 2018 First ever Brunswick Railroader Alumni jerseys are ordered.
October 2018 First ever Brunswick Alumni intra-squad scrimmage
October 2018 The alumni team selects David Leveille as their first head coach/ offensive coordinator and Craig Beamer as defensive coordinator and line coach. Dave is a 2012 Brunswick grad and Craig is a 1999 Gaithersburg grad.
8 November 2018 The first ever pregame walk thru occurs on Brunswick’s Little League field under the lights. The team doesn’t realize it, but at the start of the walk thru, Brian and Kenny Deener test run fireworks for the inaugural game.
9 November 2018 The first ever Team Dinner is held on Friday night at Uno’s Pizzeria and Grill in Frederick.
10 November 2018 Inaugural Brunswick Alumni Football Game is played at Brunswick High School’s stadium. The Brunswick Railroaders Alumni welcome the Washington County All Stars who were made up of five schools and players from Baltimore. Temperature was 32 degrees and 15+ MPH winds. Over 1,000 fans attended the game. Brunswick won 27-16. The first touchdown was a 30-yard pass from Ian Fisher to Timmy Privette. Ian was named MVP and Dave Powell was named Most Experienced Player (oldest, 1984 grad). The game raised over $2500 for Brunswick High.
February 2019 Season two practices commence.
7 April 2019 Brunswick Alumni make their Semi-Pro Football debut against the Montgomery County Rams of the TFL. Brunswick wins 22-6.
Summer 2019 Brunswick Alumni discuss turning the Alumni team into a Semi-Pro team and reach out to Washington County players and decide to come together as one and form the Brunswick Railroaders Semi-Pro Football Team.
